Abstract
:
The aim of this proposal is to synthesize and characterize a series of new novel thiazolidinone derivatives and study their biological activities. These compounds are proposed to be synthesized by condensation of different aldehydes with thiosemicarbazide, and cyclization with chloroacetic acid or ethyl bromoacetate in presence of sodium acetate to offer the new thiazolidinone derivatives. To fully elucidate the chemical structure of all newly synthesized compounds, elemental and spectral analyses such as melting point, FT-IR, and multinuclear NMR (1H and 13C) spectroscopy will be performed. The biological activity of the newly synthesized compounds will be investigated, such as antibacterial and antifungal activities. Our new series of heterocyclic compounds are anticipated to show great therapeutic properties as it contains thiazolidinone derivatives, attracting the attention of medicinal chemists to synthesize many chemotherapeutic agents.
