Abstract
:
In recent years, many people in Saudi Arabia experienced changes in the social and cultural behavior. As a result of that, most families in Jeddah are dependent on house workers for cleaning, children care, food cooking, food preparation and other duties. Intestinal parasitic infections of house-workers may represent a potential source of infection for the surrounding people. Intestinal parasites are considered to be one of the main public health problems around the world especially in tropical and sub tropical countries and our valuable country; Saudi Arabia is one of them. It is estimated that some 3.5 billion people are affected, and that 450 million are ill as a result of these infections (i.e. some 3 billion are asymptomatic carriers) and each year, some 200,000 deaths are directly attributable to intestinal parasitic infections
