Abstract
:
Some scholars of Islamic economics think that the contemporary Muslim jurists have failed to clarify the foundations of the Islamic economic system and its relationship with the economic reality. By going back to the basis on which these scholars based their argument, it becomes clear that the background of this view is no more than a reflection of the historical circumstances. Therefore, it is necessary to review and renew the foundations of the Islamic economic system in order to widen the scope for the Muslims to meet the terms of every new development. Starting from a model (Zakat/Riba), this paper critizes this methodology and shows that it is possible to build on these two main foundations some other auxiliary and explanatory ones. Thus, the authentic foundations of the contemporary scholars are detailed and based on the authentic foundations of the old ones.
