Abstract
:
More than thirty years have elapsed since the inauguration of the first International Conference of Islamic Economics, organized by King Abdul Aziz University in Makkah 1976. During this period a lot of activities took place dealing with one aspect or the other of this newly emerged paradigm. One of these important aspects is the emergence of a considerable literature by Muslims and Non-Muslims in many locations conducted by various academicians, writers and thinkers in many languages. In parallel to this effort hundreds of Islamic Financial Institutions (IFIs) have been established all over the globe. It is a worthwhile exercise to revisit these efforts with an analytical approach that tries to vigorously value and assess the contents and contributions of these efforts theoretically and empirically. The focus, in this, has to be with the intention of drawing a road map for future agenda of research in Islamic Economics. The scope of this paper, however, is somehow limited to a preliminary survey of the Literature on Islamic Economics by English Speaking Non-Muslims in Britain over the years 1976 till 2008.
